Mainly Music is a fun music group for parents or carers to enjoy together with their young child. Throughout the morning, children develop gross and fine motor skills, language, imagination, mathematical and pre-reading skills as well as socialise with others. Each mainly music is associated with and is run by volunteers from a local church. Children are introduced to music, creativity and more, plus families given a chance to think about the God-part of life. This all takes place in a loving, shared family environment.

Mainly Music Darlington takes place each Tuesday at St Cuthbert’s Parish Centre, cnr Hillsden and Darlington Roads, Darlington. The session begins promptly at 9.30am, but you’re welcome to arrive from 9.00am to get settled or spend time in our lovely grounds. We run during school term time only, and don’t begin until the second week of each term. You can also sign up to our e-newsletter which is sent out once or twice per term.
When you have come for a couple of sessions, we will ask you to complete a Registration Form, and you will be placed on our email and mail list. Mainly Music is offered as a gift to the local community, and you are invited to make a contribution of $5 per child or $8 per family to cover some of the costs. If money is tight, please come anyway, the church underwrites the program and we’d rather see you than not!
A typical Mainly Music session goes like this:
9.00am – Arrive and have quiet time inside or outside until the session starts
9.30am – The session starts promptly with songs and dancing, and a story time
10.00am – Fruit and water for the children, while parents/carers have tea, coffee and nibbles
10.15am – Children play with toys while parents/carers continue to eat and drink
10.45am – Families leave when they’re ready, some staying until as late as 11.30am
