A Nice Jewish Boy

LENTEN LECTURES 2019

A Nice Jewish Boy: Jesus in his religious and social context
Presented by Rabbi Sheryl Nosan across three Tuesdays: 19 March, 26 March. 2 April
5.30-7.00pm

Over three sessions, Rabbi Sheryl will assist people to understand the ‘Jewishness’ of Jesus. She will invite people of any faith or worldview to deepen their appreciation of Jesus and engage in interfaith dialogue. With good humour, storytelling, and a rich knowledge of Jewish faith and culture, participants will be exposed to new facets of Jesus’ teaching and witness. There will also be an opportunity to ‘ask the Rabbi’ any of those burning questions about Judaism!

Rabbi Sheryl Nosan, MAHL, MAJE, RJE, learned to sing prayers and light Shabbat candles with her family in small-town Central Michigan. She and her family later moved to Southern California, where she studied Psychology in the University of California graduating with honours. She studied in Hebrew Union College in Jerusalem, and Los Angeles, gaining Masters’ degrees in both Hebrew Letters and in Jewish Education. In 1993 Sheryl received her ordination from the New York campus of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.  In 2002 She became a member of the Institute For Jewish Spirituality’s ‘Hevrayah’.
